BMW E34 - 5 Series
The BMW e34 5-Series was introduced in may of
1989 and was produced until 1995. North America initially introduced
the e34 525i and the 535i. The e34 5-Series was designed more
aerodynamic than its predecessor, while keeping BMW’s clean
square lines. The e34 5-Series was just slightly heavier than
the e28, even though the car was larger. BMW
significantly stiffened the body on the e34 5-Series,
resulting in increased handling and an overall sportier ride.
Bimmer fanatics were very impressed with the
increased performance of the e34 and die hard bimmer fans anxiously
related the North American release of the BMW e34 M5.
BMW Four-Door-Coupe
The BMW e34 5-Series was initially produced
as a four-door-coupe. That's right a 4 door coupe. Not too long
ago there was such a thing as a four-door-coupe.
Today, the four door coupe is making a comeback with the introduction
of the Mercedes-Benz CLS. Many people are arguing the fact that
coupes have two-doors, and sedans have four-doors. Like the BMW
e34, a four door coupes are aerodynamically designed like a coupe,
the car just has four doors.
European e34 models
There are a few cars that bimmer 5 currently
does not highlight. BMW introduced their touring version of the
e39 5-Series. The touring version had a really cool option of
double sunroofs. Produced for limited countries BMW
produced the 525ix, a four wheel drive 5-series offered in a sedan
or touring version. The European car market also introduced the
e34 518i, the 6-cylinder 530i, and the e34 525tds which is a turbo
diesel.
