BMW E39 - 5 Series

Produced from 1997-2003, the BMW e39 5-Series has been a favorite amongst bimmer enthusiasts. The BMW e39 has accumulated an immense amount of awards during its seven year production phase, making it one of bmw's most notable models ever produced. Many e39 5-Series enthusiasts are having a hard time adjusting to the radically designed e60 5-Series. The bimmer e39 evolved in many ways from its e34 predecessor. Bmw adapted significant amounts of aluminum body parts into the e39. Bmw also added innovative electronic functions such ad the ACS+T, console displayed diagnostics, and an optionally integrated navigation system. Bmw never produced a 4-wheel drive e39 model and the e39 diesels were not produced for the United States market.

BMW E39 - 540i 6-Speed

The BMW e39 540i is available with an optional "M" sport package. It is not actually an M package; rather BMW adds the M5 steering wheel, M5 manual shift knob, a 6-speed manual gear box, and a sportier suspension. Many dealers and private sellers use the term "M" package loosely. So be aware of sellers trying to pass of the "M" package of having M suspension components or added hoarse power. The 540i 6-Speed can easily be said to be one of the favorite BMW cars of bimmer enthusiast, next to the BMW M5. One of the only complaints of the e39 540i is the handling. The handling can be a little loose if you are used to driving a 3-series. This is due to the unequal weight ratio caused by the large 4.4 liter V-8 engine. With an aftermarket suspension kit, and a few mods, the 540i 6-Speed is one of the most fun 4-door cars to drive!
